WhatsApp will soon get its own cloud backup, chat security will become stronger

WhatsApp is working on new features to further strengthen its security. Recently, some reports claimed that WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption is not completely secure. After this, this messaging platform of Meta has started preparations to improve the backup security.

According to the report, WhatsApp may soon bring passkey-based encryption for chat backup. This means that users will not need to remember long passwords. Instead, they will be able to use device-based security options like fingerprint, face unlock or phone screen lock. This will make backup more secure and easier.

Currently, for Android users, WhatsApp backup is saved only on Google Drive. Similarly, iPhone users use iCloud. But as chats, photos and videos grow, cloud storage fills up quickly. This causes problems to many users.

Google Drive will be left behind
To solve this problem, WhatsApp is also working on its own cloud backup system. With this, apart from Google Drive, users can also get the option to save the backup on WhatsApp Cloud. According to initial information, the company can provide up to 2GB of free storage.

The report also says that in future WhatsApp can also bring a paid stored plan, in which around 50GB storage can be available at a low monthly price. Apart from this, users can get many security options like passkey, password or 64-digit encryption key.

Currently this feature is in testing and may be released for some users in the coming weeks. However, the company has not yet confirmed it officially. If this feature comes, the security of WhatsApp will become even stronger.
