BCB charges player, officials in anti-corruption probe into Bangladesh Premier League

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has charged multiple team officials ​and a domestic cricketer over betting ‌violations and obstruction in an anti-corruption ​probe into the Bangladesh ⁠Premier League, the country’s major franchise-based T20 competition.

Player Amit Mojumder and team manager ‌Rezwan Kabir Siddique have been charged with “placing, accepting, laying or ‌otherwise entering into bets” in ‌relation ⁠to matches, the BCB said ⁠on Thursday, after an investigation conducted by its integrity unit.

Towhidul Haque Towhid, former chairman ​of the Noakhali ‌Express franchise, and Chattogram Royals team manager Lablur Rahman have been charged with obstructing the investigation into ‌the BPL’s 2025-26 season which ​concluded in January.

“The charged Participants have been provisionally suspended and ⁠have 14 days from receipt of the notices of charge to ‌respond to the allegations,” the BCB said in a statement.

Saminur Rahman, who was associated with the Chattogram Royals franchise, has also been issued an exclusion order following an ‌investigation into the previous three editions of ​the BPL, the BCB said, adding that Rahman had accepted ⁠the exclusion order.

The BCB’s integrity unit ⁠had flagged “credible suspicion” and questioned players and staff of multiple ‌franchises during the month-long competition, the national body said in January.
