This is not a problem, but there is science and some practical reasons behind it. Let us understand how and why this is so?
How do refrigerators and ACs work?
Both the machines generate coolness by taking out the internal heat. A special gas called refrigerant gas is used in this. The gas gets heated by applying pressure in the compressor.
This heat is taken out through the mesh (condenser coils) installed at the back.
The gas cools down and cools the air inside.
In home AC, this mesh is on the outside. The car also has the same system, but there is a big difference between the two.
Why are there more problems with AC at home?
attack of moisture and dirt
There is a lot of moisture, smell and dust near the drain. All this sticks to the mesh behind the AC. The mesh gets blocked, heat cannot come out and the AC overheats.
Fungus and Bacteria
Fungus and bacteria grow quickly in moist places. These jam the mesh and pipes. Due to this, the coldness of the AC reduces and the compressor works harder.
get rusty
Due to moisture and dirt, metal mesh gets rusted. This may cause gas leakage or damage to the compressor.
walking continuously
The AC of the house keeps running day and night. Due to this the parts wear out quickly.
Why does car AC last long?
closed cabin
The entire cabin of the car is closed. Dirty air, moisture or dust from outside cannot come inside easily.
continuous flow of air
The car keeps moving, so the hot air flows out rapidly. Less dirt accumulates on the mesh.
better filter
The car is equipped with cabin air filters, which trap dust and dirt.
less use
The car’s AC is used only when needed. The AC of the house usually runs the whole day.
How to save AC for a long time?
- Choose the right place- Install the AC at least 6-8 feet away from drains or dirty places.
- Regular cleaning- Clean the front filter every 15-20 days. Get full servicing done every 6 months.
- Correct temperature- Keep at 24-26 degrees. Do not operate at very low temperatures.
- Add stabilizer- To avoid voltage problems.
The AC of the house gets damaged quickly when it is near a drain because it works harder in dirty and humid air. Whereas the AC of the car runs in a closed space, hence it remains fine for a long time. If the mesh of your AC is too hot or the cooling is decreasing, then first of all check its cleanliness and location. With a little care, your AC can run comfortably for many years.
